BCA Nationals Results – Open Coed Level 2 – NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

MaleOur final compete of the weekend came in the form of our All-Male level 2 group stunt, where we came 1st!!!!! Granted we were against ourselves; however, 2 stars and a score of 115 is not to be laughed at (probably).

The group stunt was initially conceived with the view of having a laugh and that it wasn’t something to be taken seriously. Although when we arrived in warm up, that mood quickly changed, it was replaced by a need to do well and try and be as good as any all-girl or coed team we could have been against. Although our limited ability did slightly hinder that ambition – we are still really proud of our performance.

With a large number of the team being around 13 stone, when flying we sometimes looked out of proportion, but we made sure that every guy in the group stunt did his time flying at least one stunt. With thanks to Matthew, we even had a scorpion stretch in for good measure.

It is something we are going to build upon and look to compete at more competitions, maybe increasing the give in the trousers that we wear!

Make sure to look out for us at future comps, we do stick out like a sore thumb.

BCA Nationals Results – Senior Group Stunt Level 2 – 3rd Place

Girls

Two months in to their cheer career, two of our youngest members outlined that they would like to have a taste of cheer competition (by attending); however, we thought why not get them doing a group stunt to throw them in the deep end and see what cheer comp is all about.

Pairing them with the most senior members of our team allowed the girls to feel a sense of calm and be guided throughout the whole process. We allowed for them to compete a slower routine and to build up their own confidence, alongside their skills.

However, the girls took to the task with great aplomb and loved every minute, training every Friday they were able to build on the routine and add their own flair when it came to spirit and stunts.

After a hugely impressive compete, the girls finished in third place, only a few points off second! We couldn’t have been more proud and are so excited to see the improvements everyone is making!

BCA Nationals Results – Senior Coed Cheer 3 – 2nd Place

Award

BCA Nationals saw Gladiators compete a cheer routine for the first time in Competition. Due to time constraints and availability (due to competitions abroad and University commitments), the team were only able to train for two full weekends with the majority of the team present.

4Due to only having one full day of choreography and three days of full training, the team were understandably anxious before competition. However, a training session the night before competition helped to calm any nerves and the team were able to perform the routine with more confidence. Although one late arrival in the form of a team member flying in from Florida 5 hours before training added a bit of drama to the day!

The first round of competition went really well, after a slight hiccup with the pyramid we found ourselves just off the pace in third place. The first routine gave us a good idea of what we could do to improve and managed to hit an almost faultless routine during our second round of competition!

We finished the day in second place! It is good to take this opportunity to say a massive congratulations to Black Panther Allstars and Queni Dynamos, who both performed excellently and finished in 1st and 3rd place, respectively.

The team are now well placed to build on the routine and you can expect an even bigger showing at competitions to follow!
